Does C60 Really Work? And Other Frequently Asked Questions
If you’ve recently heard of Carbon 60, you might be asking yourself if it’s really as beneficial as people say it is. How can one simple molecule support whole-body health? C60 is not a miracle cure – it’s a powerful antioxidant and it’s backed by scientific research!
What is C60?
C60, also known as Buckminsterfullerene, or affectionately known as Bucky Balls, are cage-like molecules comprised of 60 carbon atoms that resemble microscopic soccer balls. The positive charge of C60 attracts negatively charged free electrons, also known as reactive oxidative species (ROS) or free radicals, and turns them into hydrogen, oxygen, or a number of other neutral substances that the body can then pass without harm to its cells.
Several factors, such as age, diet, lifestyle, and toxic environments can contribute to a high oxidative burden on the body, often resulting in diminished health and a weakened immune system which may reduce the body’s natural ability to fight off illness. C60 works in concert with, and in place of, the body’s own antioxidants, such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase, to effectively address oxidative stress.1 This supports cells across the body in returning to their primary functions rather than using up valuable time and energy fighting ROS.
Does Carbon 60 Really Work?
There are dozens of scientific studies on the health benefits of C60, and scientists believe it is the most powerful antioxidant yet discovered. However, research results vary depending upon the form of C60 that is used in the study. Only whole, singly dissolved molecules of C60 have been found to be beneficial, and that is the only type of C60 that is safe to take. Anything containing nanoparticles of C60 can actually cause damage, just as nanoparticles of any substance would. Dig into the research and you will find that studies touting the benefits of C60 used whole molecules, while those cautioning against the dangers of it used nanoparticles.
What is C60 Good For?
C60 is good for a lot of things, but there is one main benefit that rules them all. C60 lifts the oxidative burden that the cells are under so that they can do their job, and the body can heal itself naturally.
Ken Swartz, Founder and Chief Science Officer at C60 Purple Power shares, “Oxidative radicals can overwhelm the body’s antioxidants, cross-link proteins, damage membranes – they can even do damage to RNA and DNA if there’s enough of them. C60 works at the cellular level to neutralize free radicals before they can do their damage.”
All other results are essentially the downstream effects of C60’s ability to neutralize oxidative stress.
How Much C60 Should You Take?
The effective dose of C60 depends on several variables including age, weight, and state of overall health. The good news is that there is no danger of toxicity3, but taking more than is needed may have a stimulatory effect similar to caffeine, and won’t necessarily add any more value to your process. As C60 is expensive, we recommend you follow the dosage instructions below.
Most people require between 1-3 teaspoons (3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon) a day, taken in the morning. For example, a person under 45, below 160 pounds, and in good health will likely only require 1 tsp. a day. However, someone who is older, weighs more, or is looking to address either an acute or chronic illness may require up to a tablespoon daily in order to see results.
Is C60 Good for Your Skin?
A recent human study that found C60 lessens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In 2010 a randomized, double-blind study that took place over 8-weeks and involved 23 Japanese women in their late 30s found that when applied topically, C60 was effective at reducing wrinkles.4 Additional studies have found that C60 is effective at protecting skin from UV damage, even after sun exposure.5
What Are the Side Effects of C60?
According to the famous Paris Baati study, C60 was found to be non-toxic in scientific studies on test rats at 10,000 times the normal dosage.6 While it is possible to feel overly stimulated by taking more C60 than is necessary, studies using whole molecules of C60 dissolved in oil have demonstrated no danger for human or animal consumption.
Is C60 Safe to Take?
Yes, as long as you choose a good quality product. True C60 is worth more than its weight in gold, making real C60 products more expensive than cheap knockoffs. Actual C60 that is safe for consumption must be whole molecules of C60 dissolved in oil, preferably, a healthy and organic oil. (Watch out for sunflower oil and hemp seed oil. Sunflower oil may cause inflammation and hemp seed oil, unless refrigerated, may become rancid. The oil should have a purple (or amber, if the carrier oil is not clear) color to it. Anything that is black is most likely not true C60, and C60 is not the same thing as activated charcoal!
It’s also worth noting that the safest C60 is produced via sublimation, and not created using toxic solvents like toluene (also called the “oven-baked method”). Solvent-based C60 will never be entirely free from the chemicals used to create it, while sublimation, similar to evaporation, uses no harmful substances.
Does C60 Purple Power Really Work?
C60 Purple Power works as a powerful antioxidant without interfering with signaling molecules or other vital functions. It does not interact with other vitamins, minerals or supplements, but simply targets high-energy oxidative radicals to manage ROS within the body. The result? A fantastic supplement that promotes overall health and wellness for both people and their pets. Visit our reviews to see testimonials from users who are seeing positive results with C60.
“C60 has been a great asset to my healthy lifestyle! My husband and I take it in our coffee every morning. We give it to our dog every evening before she goes to bed. We also use it on our skin. We love it!” – Mary B.
